The Art of Healing; Taking a Deep Breath
Paul and Grace Huang (Architect) explain that as the healthcare cost continues to rise, it is more relevant that the Building Industry be part of the solution. This remodel project incorporated green features and focused on improving air quality as well as addressing deferred maintenance issues. However, the real story about this project, lies in this family’s journey to a healthy home. Air quality issues persisted for 20 + years and the family had a history of respiratory conditions, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS), allergies and autoimmune diseases. This project was presented at Northwest Green Building Slam and Summit 2011.*
*This annual event gathers hundreds of talented leaders, professionals, and advocates and aims to reconnect people and re-energize the vision to drive the green building movement forward. Every year, the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild accepts speaker applications for the Green Building Slam (10 projects, 10 slides, 10 minutes) and Annual Summit (60-minute presentations). Pathway Design & Construction was selected to be the guest speaker.
